'Bilib ako kay PNoy, mahal ko rin si President Erap'

MANILA - Grace Poe-Llamanzares, daughter of the late Action King Fernando Poe Jr., was not invited to join the senatorial slate of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and has not been invited to any of their sorties.

Llamanzares issued the statement after she was adopted as a guest candidate of UNA in the senatorial race.

"It can be tricky. Of course we're grateful that we've been adopted by UNA but honestly, UNA kasi did not ask me. It was the President (Aquino) who asked me to join and I asked permission from my ninong, President Erap (Estrada), and Vice-President (Jejomar) Binay and of course they said we will support you," she told ANC.

She said one possible reason she was not invited to join the slate is because she was unsure about joining the senatorial race during the past elections. She also revealed that it was her mother, Susan Roces, who told her to prove herself in public service first before running for public office.

"Well they figured I am so fickle di ba kasi in 2007, 2009 I wasn't sure, maybe. Then another thing is - I was also with the MTRCB [Movie and Television Review and Classification Board]. Maybe it wouldn't be nice if they just get me to join the opposition slate when I am under the administration. I am just assuming all these things. I am thinking of the best possible reasons why they did not consider me first," she said.

She said the fact that she was not invited by UNA was a boon because she did not have to choose between President Aquino, who appointed her to the MTRCB, and her godfather, President Joseph Estrada.

"Siyempre naman kasi bilib din naman ako kay President Noynoy. Mahal ko rin naman si President Erap," she said.

Llamanzares is one of 3 "common candidates" shared by UNA and the Liberal Party-led coalition now known as Team PNoy. The other two are Senators Loren Legarda and Francis "Chiz" Escudero.

Llamanzares said there have been instances where she joined UNA candidates Nancy Binay and Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito during sorties.

She said she picks the sorties that she chooses to attend, saying "I don't necessarily believe in the stand of some of the candidates in UNA."

"We have not been invited to join the sorties of UNA but I will go around with people I believe in UNA. I go with Binay and Ejercito because they are the ones I've known for a long time," she said.

"I think this is safer. We are independent so we believe in the stand of the President, his principled stand and his honest brand of leadership but we remain friends with Vice President Binay and Erap," she added.

She said the Team PNoy slate will also be broken up into teams when the official campaign starts.
