MANILA, Philippines - Various artists and their supporters have called on the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) to reconsider its decision of closing down the controversial “Kulo” exhibit, saying this is a form of government censorship of the arts.
In a press conference, the artists said the industry will launch protest actions if the CCP fails to do so. The Kulo, which includes an installation by artist Mideo Cruz, should have run until August 21.
The panel included National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera, educator and musician Eric Cabrera, UP Professor Nicanor Tiongson and Karen Flores, who yesterday announced her resignation as the CCP's Director for Visual Arts Division.
Lumbera called CCP's decision “disappointing” since the institution surrendered its right as a center for artists.
Tiongson, meanwhile, appealed to the media to support the artists. He said any infringement on the rights of artists is also an infringement on the rights of the media since the issue is about censorship and freedom of expression.
There was also a heated argument during the press conference when actor Pen Medina raised the possibility of a compromise. He asked if it was possible for Cruz’s installation to be taken down so the rest of the exhibit can push through.
He said the CCP is not only owned by artists, but Filipino taxpayers as well, many of whom consider the work as blasphemous.
In response, panelists said that the discussion on the matter is already moot since the CCP already closed down the exhibit.
Palayain ang Sining spokesperson Iggy Rodriguez, on the other hand, said negotiations are ongoing with other private institutions where the exhibit can re-open. - by Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News

The bible says:
you shall not worship icons.
Yet, wooden Christ and all kinds of man made things are regarded holy someway.
That,- is blasphemy.
Man made ideas like saints, and icons of such, that is blasphemy !
Strangeling artists is just a joke.

It has nothing to do with art!
Mr. Mideo "creation" has nothing to do with art! He just simply mix "things together" adding some vulgar materials and branded it "art"! This person is not an artist!

leave to the catholic hypocrites to try to muddy everything. The priests decry phalluses in public which they love behind closes convent doors. why do the catholic church meddle into everything. they think they have the power of infallibility.
Gov't is responsible for educating public about phallic worship
Imagine entering a temple and seeing a naked corpse on the wall, with blood pouring out from the dead body, hanging from a phallus--the male sex organ.
That seems to be a scene from the Church of Satan, but as disgusting and horrific as it appears, it is actually a Catholic Church. Most ignorant Catholics don't seem to know that the Christian cross is an ancient phallic symbol:
http://issues.xanga.com/752638690/item/
Ancient Babylonians (Iraqis) wore pendants around their necks similar to the cross necklaces worn today by Christians, hundreds of years before Jesus was born, but the Babylonians knew that they were wearing a phallus.
The fact of the matter is that religion is phallic. Knowledgeable Hindus aren't ashamed of this since linga (phalli) are openly known to be religious symbols. A Hindu guru once said, “When you look at the Linga, your mind is at once elevated and you begin to think of the Lord.”
It's crazy, but as Sigmund Freud and Buddha know, sex is the root of all human motivations and actions. Sex is not just the physical act, but also includes gender roles and relationships. That's why Buddhists have stupas, which are also phallic symbols of male and female organs in union, symbolizing the harmony of the union of opposites.
Original Christians, in fact, used the vesica pisces, a symbol of the female vulva using two circles that intersect, resembling the Mastercard logo or a woman's buttocks, to symbolize the union of opposites. The intersection appears like the body of a fish and represents the female sex organ.
This fish symbol was commonly used by ancient original Christians, especially for those who were straight males since the cross was favored by gays and bisexuals who love the phallus. But today, only a few evangelical Christian still use the vesica pisces since Catholics priests are closet gays and bisexuals who love the phallic cross.
That's why these artists are opening the eyes of the public so that they can make an informed choice. If they are sick of this (especially if you've seen the phallic elephant truck of the Hindu god Ganesha), then you may want to be like the Muslims who destroyed all these ugly idols and prohibited them.
Or, like the illuminati, simply consider religion as a psychological tool for various gender needs, which vary according to each individual's unique needs and preferences.
Indeed, nothing is holy. Not even a crucifix, since it is just a phallus.
Feeling Artist Lang Mga Yan
Reminder!
A particularly virulent kind of profanation of God's name is blasphemy, which literally means "to damage one's reputation." Any speech, thought, art, or action that manifests contempt for God is blasphemous. It may be directed either immediately against God or mediately against the Church or the saints and, in moral theology, is the classic example of a grave sin that is evil by its very nature.
May God bless you all!
Ayos..
Ayos yan...patigasan ng mukha!
Eh bakit hindi na lang ang mga mukha ninyo..mga mahal ninyo sa buhay ang gawan ninyo ng "ART"? For sure, yan ang tunay na Freedom of Expression!
At pag nagawa ninyo yan, ipakita ninyo sa mga Pamilya ninyo, sa mahal ninyo sa buhay kung matutuwa. Yun na yung sagot!
May God bless you all!
