Report: Robredo still wearing seat belt before crash
MANILA, Philippines – Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo was still wearing his safety buckle just before the plane that he was riding on crashed to the sea on Saturday afternoon, according to a dzMM report.
Radio correspondent Edwin Gadia based the report on the account of Robredo’s aide, Police Senior Inspector Jun Abrasado, who survived the crash.
“Batay sa impormasyon na nakuha natin kanina, itong si Sec. Robredo ay naka-seatbelt pa noong bumagsak ang eroplano base sa salaysay noong nakaligtas,” said Gadia.
Robredo was onboard the plane together with Abrasado, pilot Capt. Jessup Bahinting and Nepalese co-pilot Kshitiz Chand, when it plunged to the sea at 4:30 p.m.
Abrasado has been rescued from the crash site.
Search and rescue teams are still locating Robredo and the two pilots.
Gadia also reported that search teams were able to recover parts of the plane.
“Meron dito, itong banda gilid yata ng eroplano, nandito 'yong seradura ng gasolinahan, naka-angat pa 'yong seradora, merong numero ito na 431,” he said.
Gadia also noted that a ballpen was also retrieved from the crash site.
“May lumutang din isang ballpen, hindi natin alam kung kaninong balllpen 'yon. at nandoon na nga iyon sa mga kamay ng otoridad,” he said.
