MANILA - San Beda has focused all its energy to get back on its feet following a painful 77-83 loss to San Sebastian last Wednesday.

Unfortunately for guest team the Arellano University Chiefs, they were on the Lions way.

Showing no mercy, the Lions massacred the Chiefs, 102-74, Monday to return its four-peat title bead back into alignment in Season 85 of the NCAA at The Arena in San Juan City.

Sweet shooter Garvo Lanete spearheaded the carnage by unleashing a 20-point splurge that included three booming triples while Borgie Hermida, American Sudan Daniel, Jay-R Taganas, Dave Marcelo and Jake Pascual scattered 14, 14, 14, 11, 10, respectively.

The Lions also lorded it over the rebounds department like its their lair, plucking a total of 57 boards, or a whopping 27 more than what the Chiefs could manage.

American Sudan Daniel wrecked defensive havoc inside as he swatted away seven shots—another season best—and inflected countless of others to derail Arellano’s bid.

Arellano, which downed EAC and multi-titled Letran in its first two assignments, fell to its first setback.

"They played excellent defense," said Arellano mentor Junjie Ablan.
