MANILA – Current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight titlist Brock Lesnar is raring to defend his crown against former champion Frank Mir in UFC 100 on Saturday in Las Vegas (Sunday in Manila).

“On July 11, I’m going to finish this fight on the ground the way it should have been finished last time and walk out with my UFC heavyweight championship belt around my waist,” Lesnar told UFC.com.

Lesnar, who has a record of 3-1, suffered his only loss to Mir in 2008’s UFC 81. Mir defeated Lesnar in Round 1 by submission (leg lock).

Mir said he is psyched to become the new heavyweight champion. "The title means you are the most complete, most well rounded martial artist in the world," he said.

Mir, who is currently at 12-3, also expects to face a different Lesnar in the UFC 100 main event.

“He’s a very powerful guy. I think I’m going to see a different fighter from our first fight,” he said in an interview with Ufc.com. “This fight has all the makings of an historic match up.”

Lesnar noted: “I was disappointed the fight was postponed from May because I can’t wait to get my revenge against Frank. But now I get to fight him on the biggest show the UFC has ever put on.”

Lesnar, 31, was born in Webster, South Dakota. He is fighting out of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. His strengths include size, wrestling ability and athleticism. He posted wins over Randy Couture in UFC 91 by technical knockout and Heath Herring by unanimous decision in UFC 87.

Mir, 30, is fighting out of his hometown, Las Vegas, Nevada. His strengths include improved striking and great submissions.

Mir’s other UFC victories include those over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in UFC 92 by TKO and Antoni Hardonk in UFC 74 by submission. He lost to Filipino-American Brandon Vera by TKO in UFC 65.
