Twitter users respond to Jason Ivler’s arrest
The two-month hunt for Jason Ivler, the prime suspect in the murder of Renato Ebarle, Jr., came to an end yesterday morning. During a search conducted by National Bureau of Investigation operatives, Ivler was discovered and detained in his mother’s Quezon City home, but not before a tense shootout with the police. The clash left two police officers injured and Ivler with two gunshot wounds.
On the web, we asked for your reactions on Ivler's arrest.
Compassion and justice
Some showed compassionate towards Ivler, including @briandavidz who tweeted, “Was it just me, or was the operation mishandled?" In a similar vein, @hellohellocarlo commented, "How inhumane what they did to Ivler, they should have not dragged him in handcuffs." He continued, “they already had Ivler walking, they should have just placed him in a police car calmly.”
But most were thankful that Ivler was caught and justice was served. Keeping his message simple, @atalyer tweeted "Face the music, Ivler." Meanwhile, @lenskiecruz pointed out Ivler's illegal possession of a gun during the gun ban period preceding May's elections. And @jetboyboogie thinks Ivler has been watching too many movies to think that he could win in a shootout with the police.
A case of mistaken identity
Still others remembered another Jason Aguilar, who was mistakenly detained and deported from Qatar. @chebaldemor remarked, "I hope this is the right guy this time." Coming to Aguilar’s defense, @nerveending noted, "Ivler and his mom must also be held liable for Jason Aguilar's deportation and job loss."
Maternal love
Jason Ivler’s mother, Marlene Aguilar, who has been charged with obstruction of justice didn't get off so easy either. @bluearden tweeted, "While I don't question maternal love, it's disconcerting to know that Iivler's mom kept her fugitive son and armed him with an armalite." Providing a @alanagrao said, "A mother will always be a mother; but a good mother is somebody who will not tolerate the wrongdoings of her child." And @whilyn exclaimed, "Shame on his mother! We expect mothers to love their sons, but to that extent?!"
Kudos to capturing the culprit and the footage
But despite some questions about how the NBI handled the situation, tweeters like @onewit and @akosigodz praised their efforts. @one-wit added that he hoped the bureau would apply the same dedication and passion to other cases.
The cameramen who braved the gunfire to capture footage of the action also received accolades from tweeters. "Kudos to the brave cameraman who maintained focus and kept camera rolling despite the gunfire," tweeted @dailymanila .
Awaiting his day in court
Jason Ivler is now in stable condition at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center. However, as he awaits his day in court, it seems that netizens have already given their verdict.
this is the fault of the parent
who raised this kind of person. From the day Jason Ivler was born to the day he was arrested ... is the fault of the parent (specifically the mother, Marlene Aguilar). She pampered the child with all things he needs (good or bad) and probably encouraged him for what he is/was doing (good or bad). .. in the guise of love. Poor Jason.. he does not deserve to have a mother like Marlene. A stick once in a while when he was still a child and growing up would have him disciplined and be a responsible adult.. but the mother's twisted love did not anticipate/see the future of the fruit of her way of upbringing the child... too late.
I'm sick and tired of marlene
I'm sick and tired of marlene aguilar's face on tv.To abs-cbn and gma pls put a bag on her head everytime you interview her.I puke everytime i see her face on tv.I have enough of her lies and deceptions.Pls put a stop to the weird antics of this lunatic.
coverage
Why is ABS-CBN giving so much media attention to Marlene Aguilar anyway? That's what she wants and the media is playing right into her hands! She is a con-artist.
Another Marlene Lie !!
From a article by DUCKY PAREDES on Malaya.com We have a letter: "I am Filipino-American soldier in the US Army currently serving in Iraq on my second tour, I heard that some Operator from US Army Special Forces went on a rampage in the Philippines, when I saw it on your website, I did a little research.
"As a soldier in the US Army I have access to people’s profiles on our military only website: www.us.army.mil.
"Jason Aguilar Ivler is/was an Infantryman (11 series); his rank is Specialist (E-4), he was never a Special Forces Operator, never was, never will be. SF Operators are SGT (E-5) and higher, their job identifier is 18 series, not 11 (Infantry).
"Since his AKO account is still active, he is still actually supposed to be in active duty but, from the looks of it, he’s AWOL (Away With Out Leave). Please remove any claims that Jason Ivler is a Special Forces Operator, as was posted on your website. This just makes US Army SF soldiers look bad." – Tony D.

Tell that to Marlene and Jason, Tony. That Special Forces claim came from them. I’m not surprised that this is just one more lie. Thanks for the info.
true motherly love
setting aside all issues of guilt or innocense, this is all i really want to say to Ms, Marlene Aguilar, Im a mother too,and as moms we all love our kids to death,we will go thru anything to protect them,But true motherly love must know ther are limitations,,,I just cant see how you can say you have peace of mind and heart,,i dont understand how you can say you Love your son,if you did,why did u let things get this bad ,why did u allow the situation get this far,as a mother, and if indeed you have intelligence as u claim you do,,it would not have been to hard to realize that ther wer better options in seeking the welfare of your son. As the saying goes ,all crimes have its ending and will always come out in the open,,and innocence need not defend itself as it has its own light to reveal the truth,.If ther was no crime,if ther was no guilt, then ther would be no fear,no desire to die or be killed. If you wer really thinking intelligently, you should have forseen the effects of what your decision couldve done him in the future. if you had taken the better choice of surrendering him to the authorities from day 1 he was a suspect, and with your mothers love sustaining him by his side while the authorities did their legal part,,then all this bloodshed, all this publick humiliation, and all this other lawsuits now piled ontop of his head could have been avoided,,,not to speak of your own image nnow ruined in the face of many as a mother who concealed her son from the authorities,,why did u have to make your son go thru the more difficult, painfull and shamefull way in facing justice. Now it is too late,,and you now suffer the consequences of your wrong desicions and your mistaken love for your son,now both of you weep i in pain,,,all this couldve been avoided had you done what was right,,your deeds shows that instead of protecting innocense,,u actually try to conceal guilt.why go thru all these pain? i understand why u are hurting now ,but i do not like the fact that u dont realize the wrongs you have done, infact to be honest it greatly irritates and disgusts me !!!, i do not feel pity for a woman who has made the wrong choice that dragged her son to this situation of publick humiliation, and pain, which couldve been all avoided long time ago if you had put your genious to better use,,FOR THE WELFARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONE. marlene if you will only open your real eyes,,not the imaginary ones, and realize your wrong,,and apologize to the publick or admit youre wrong and stand up in apology for those your son may have hurt and grieved,,then maybe this will make the publick for understanding and less hatefull of you and Jason. just my suggestion, but from what i see they hate you coz they see,u are stubborn and dont see whats so wrong with you. you surely are not in your right mind, and i dont see how you ca say you have DEEP PEACE,return to the real world Marlene,,its time you leave the imaginary world of deception and twisted judgements.
Jason Ivler
Most returning war veterans from war (Vietnam & Iraq war for example) have mental & emotional problems. Here in US, war veterans develop problems with their families. They killed some of them or committing suicides. They got some treatment from the government upon returning to US. Was Jason Ivler got some treatment upon returning to the Philippines?
He was somewhat lucky to be still alive. In US, suspects who has gun out in his hand will be killed on the spot. Just raising the gun or pointing it at the police, he will be shot to death, no questions ask. How much more firing the gun at the scene of the arrest.
the most increminating
the most increminating evidence is the gun that match the killing.
no such thing magaling na
no such thing magaling na lawyer, if all the evidence was there so the law will win. Even un experience procecutor can win this case easy, for defense its so hard no matter what kind of defense and stragegic they try just too much evidence pointing out to Jason and mother. one thing the most incremenating evidence on this case is the gun that much the killing.
Disappointing ABS coverage on Ivler
I am extremely disgusted by the way ABS-CBN has covered the Ivler issue particularly giving so much airtime on the Jason's mother obviously overacting trying to get sympathies for their misdeeds. on my opinion, these two are criminals without a doubt, the son, a killer, and the mother, a consummate liar and attention-getter that this station is disappointingly giving. why has this station given so much time to a woman who had been fooling us for a long time, while the parents of his victims have not been heard of? why has this station seemed to be even glorifying a killer by showing his music videos and insinuating he is now even more popular than before because of twitter and facebook surges? are you trying to portray this man to be the model of our youth? the agents were shot trying to do their jobs yet none of the feelings of their families were seeked out? instead, the crying (acted) of a protective (for the wrong reasons) was always shown? we already had enough of the telenovelas so give us some real news, promoting the real heroes and their deeds while condemning the evil ones. this is life as it should be.
Acquittal
