Will 'Erap magic' work again?
MANILA - Two political analysts expressed doubts former President Joseph Estrada can still work the so-called "Erap magic" that gave him close to 11 million votes when he ran for president in 1998.
Political Science Prof. Edwin Tayao of the University of Sto. Tomas doubts Estrada's ratings in recent surveys, particularly since Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III of the Liberal Party announced his intention to run for president, would still peak.
"Whether we like it or not, we've already had a taste of Erap. So that will be part of the choice of the people. Whether that will translate to the same popularity is another question," Tayao told ANC on Wednesday.
Atty. Edwin Lacierda, constitutional law professor of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Eastern University Institute of Law, agreed.
"For the longest time, nagsu-survey, laging kasama sya. Whether he declared or not, alam ng tao tatakbo siya. Hanggang doon na lang numbers niya. Tapos pumasok si Noynoy, biglang bagsak numbers niya. What does it say? It says that kinain na ni Noynoy iyong preference for Erap. (Estrada was always included in surveys. The people knew he was going to run whether he declared or not. His numbers will stay the same. Then Noynoy came in, his numbers suddenly went down. Preference for Erap has transferred to Noynoy.)," Lacierda said.
Lacierda called Noynoy the "game-changer."
"The entry of Noynoy really changed the whole scenario. (Nacionalista Party’s Sen. Manuel ) Villar was doing well. Look at his numbers right now. It seemed it has peaked," he explained.
Tayao and Lacierda added that it would be hard for Estrada to shake off the perception that he was corrupt while he was in Malacañang.
"So talagang kahit sabihin niyang gusto kong ituloy campaign ko para sa mahihirap, nakita nating kung ano'ng klase ang Cabinet niya (Even if he says he wants to continue his campaign for the poor, we've already seen the kind of Cabinet he had.)," Lacierda said.

Former 'convicted' President Erap is insane.
Erap is insane. This is obviously a struggling in power and regaining back what he had lost. Please Former President Erap, think. Is it only through seeking your 'beloved' and 'lost' position that you can change the Philippines? Is it only through becoming president that you can help our country?
The answer is obviously no.
It's not enough that you say things like that, you must show it to the people. You want to prove and erase your dirt in your name, show that you are worthy of removing that dirt. The people must see the changes that have taken place. I suggest that you instead of wobbling your face in the television, go do something great, like elevating the poor, make e.g. TONDO MANILA the most 'prestigious' place to live in Manila or at least an organized place - e.g. road fixed, good quality education, good housing projects, good drainage system, but this time 'please' out of the camera. You don't need to brag about what you've done in the camera. For if what you've done is really great and people are satisfied with it, surely, you'll be the rocking star again. Another thing, short-term improvements are good, but what will be better are the long term improvements, especially, education. [this is the only one that I can think of as of the moment]
HOWEVER, if we don't see anything, no improvements, but just your face in the camera, you might as well go home, pack your belongings and leave.
Bottomline: We must see, and not just merely hear, the things that you [ERAP and calling all the people of the country] are wanting to change or to do to improve our country. Maybe through power and fame, you can easily control and manipulate the things that you want, but with that you must be careful with what you manipulate, too, for with that comes a greater responsibility, and the consequences depends on the process itself. And, WE ARE THE PROCESS.
ERAP MAGIC AGAIN
Kay Arroyo puro gutom, bagsak ang kabuhayan, ninanakaw ni Arroyo at Winston Garcia ang pera ng GSIS. Noynoy and Mar, Manny Villar, Legarda, Gibo Teodoro represents the elite. Erap and Binay represents the masang Pilipino. Si Arroyo sobra sa utak, kumakatas sa tenga at ilong. Si Erap ang utak para sa kapakanan ng masang Pilipino. Erap cannot run according to Arroyo and company--it's a joke.
Harangin nyo na lang si Erap sa pagtakbo tutal mahina na tuhod nito at matagal ng may cirrhosis of the liver senador pa lang ito ayon sa kampo ni Arroyo.
Dayain nyo na lang ulit dahil mahina naman pala at bobo si Erap kayang-kaya nyo iyan dahil diyan lang kayo magaling sa dayaan sa eleksiyon. Hayaan niyo na ang mga mang-mang sa kaligayahan nila na iboto si Idol Erap nila 'ika nga nila 'di bale ng magutom si Erap lang ang manalo.

ERAP CANNOT RUN
Erap's lawyers only focus on the 2nd part of section 4 of article 7. The whole section would read :
"Section 4. THE PRESIDENT and the Vice-President SHALL BE ELECTED by direct vote of the people for a term of six years which shall begin at noon on the thirtieth day of June next following the day of the election and shall end at noon of the same date, six years thereafter. THE PRESIDENT shall not be eligible for any re-election. No person who has succeeded as President and has served as such for more than four years shall be qualified for election to the same office at any time.
In the first sentence, in the phrase, “The president and vice president shall be elected by direct vote….”, it is obvious that the president being referred to here is NOT the incumbent president, but the INCOMING president, the FUTURE president (take note of “shall be”, which implies future tense). The incumbent president, being the current president, has no need of being “elected by a direct vote of the people”, since he/she has already received that when he was elected. Thats how she got into power in the first place. Now, if the first part of section 4 obviously refers to the INCOMING PRESIDENT, it would also follow that the second part of section 4 would also refer to the INCOMING PRESIDENT, not the incumbent president for it would not make sense if the 2nd part refers to the incumbent but the first part refers to the incoming and to all presidential aspirants. In the phrase, “The president shall not be eligible for any re-election”, “The president” does not only refer to the incumbent president, but also to the incoming president and to all aspiring presidential candidates in the future.
I hope other lawyers have also noticed this flaw and will be able to put a stop to this madman.
Erap Running For Presidency Again
Erap timing in running for presidency again is a joke!!!!. This person plundered the country and was convicted and jailed. I was wondering how Erap was released by Arroyo administration without oversight. Who is responsible for his release and why? I am not surprised if Philippines still rated as 100 corrupt countries in the world, may be top 10. I am sick of all of this old political power play especially by traditional politician. On the other hand, President Arroyo is considered non-traditional politician but when power and money combined together, consequences is a night mare.

The only president who tolerated immorality (multiple wives), the most drunkard, gambler who made malacanang and the presidential yacht as his personal casino. marlboro mag-isip ka naman kahit paminsan-minsan o sadyang wala ka ding utak tulad ni erap? Puwede nga kayong magsamasama sa kulungan.
I think Erap's magic will not
I think Erap's magic will not work again this time. There are many factors that would affect his candidacy. First, he is not the only opposition's presidential aspirant that will run..N.Aquino,C.Escudero,M.Villar are there. Obviously, the votes will be divided among them. Second, there are also other issues that he had been involved, even it is proven true or not, but the point is, he is still involved. Let's give chance to other presidential aspirants this time. If Mr. Estrada really wants to help our country as he stated on his speech when he officially declared his intentions to run, he could still help us even as simple filipino citizen. Helping our countrymen will not require to be in the highest position in government as long as there is willingness, there would be no problem.
