Aquino meets Cojuangcos on Hacienda Luisita issue
MANILA - Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, Liberal Party standard bearer for the May 2010 polls, held a meeting with other members of the Cojuangco family Tuesday to talk about the Hacienda Luisita dispute.
The family meeting comes on the heels of the fifth anniversary of the Hacienda Luisita massacre where 7 people died and hundreds of farm workers were wounded in a clash with police and soldiers during a blockade on Nov. 16, 2004.
In an interview on ANC’s Strictly Politics on Tuesday, Hacienda Luisita Inc. (HLI) spokesman Atty. Antonio Ligon said, the Liberal Party presidential candidate has a minimal stake in the land.
“It will have no material impact,” Ligon told ANC’s Pia Hontiveros on Strictly Politics.
Ligon also defended the Stock Distribution Option (SDO) on which the sugar estate was placed to comply with the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
“Kung ibibigay mo ‘yong lupa, ang social justice provision natin is not automatically land distribution,” he said.
Akbayan Chair Emeritus Rep. Etta Rosales meanwhile is pushing for the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (CARPER) and had indicated so in an open letter addressed to Aquino last week.
She cited a recommendation from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) for the redistribution of land to farmers.
“You know, the argument given was, this was put to a vote, that farmers voted in favor (of the SDO). I think logic and good faith would let us know na hindi umubra. Let us not blame anybody. The SDO did not work,” Rosales also told Strictly Politics.
Rosales added, the DAR recommendation came out in early 2005, but was blocked by a 2006 temporary restraining order (TRO) granted to the Cojuangcos.
“That was 3 years ago. The TRO is still in effect,” Rosales said.
Rosales appealed to Aquino to do what he can to resolve the issue.
“This is bigger than your family. Dumistansya ka,” Rosales addressed the LP standard bearer.
Ligon meanwhile maintained that the farmers were given lots by HLI.
“There’s the 33.296% ownership (of the land). On top of that, they’ve been given 3% of gross sales from 1989 to 2004 – that was given to 10,500 farmers. They were given 240 square meters. Everything is under progress,” Ligon enumerated. by Karen Reyes-Caringal, ANC

Alam naman nating lahat na sa kasalukuyang pamunuan, ang hustisya sa Pinas ay nababayaran. At may mga tao nang kasama sa nang-akusa sa kanya noon na dahil sa malinis na budhi ay umamin na na sila ay nalinlang lamang.

With Noynoy to win the presidency, we would be putting new set of thieves in the government. True, he may not be corrupt, like his mother the late Pres. Cory Aquino, but the people behind him, the ones pushing his presidency seem to be like vultures waiting for their turn after the lions leave their prey. Hayok na hayok na!
Like his mother, he would be put to presidency by the set of people capitalizing on the impulse of the masses against the corruption of the current leadership, without any basis of qualification to be a good president. His records prove he would not be a strong leader.
And history will repeat itself, as we all know that corruption got worse & worse from Cory's presidency up to the present.
Sabi nga, "buti pa kay Marcos, isa lang ang kurakot. Pero simula kay Cory, dumami ng dumami".
Kung si Erap sana, remember noon, pulis nadisiplina; Mindanao pinatahimik nya. Kotong nawala pa. Marami pa sana, kung di ninakaw kapangyarihan nya.

During his term as a Mayor which starts in 1992, he rapidly transformed Marikina from only a 4th class Municipality to a Philippine model city and was accorded 55 citations for that award making Marikina the destination of choice for foreign investors. In fact Marikina already garnered 200 awards both locally and abroad in just 16 years.
•Widened city streets, installed street lights & constructed U-turn slots in the right places
•Modernized the public market in such a way that it is favorably compared to high-end shopping malls.
•Adopt zero-tolerance for littering. Arrest and penalizes those who improperly throw their garbage
•Able to relocate 30,000 squatter families living along rivers, creeks & in public places. Another thing, not a single house is standing on water for safety reasons.
•Keeping the city streets and sidewalks free of any obstruction by eliminating illegal structures & vendors and offering them a chance to do business legally, in especially designated places, in a market nearby or construct makeshift structures to accommodate them.
•First to ordered the police in adopting " the broken window " policing concept before Mayor Rudy Giuliani of New York City, leading to a clean, peaceful and orderely Marikina city. The police, he made it clear, should not in anyway tolerate vandalism or disorderly conduct or littering. Drunks were promptly thrown in jail until they sobered up; minors were detained and turned over to their parents if they stayed out late in violation of curfew.
•Applying law to a letter without fear or favor to those habitual lawbreakers.

Several years ago, there was a French Engineer consultant of a World Bank assisted project going to the DPWH main office where Bayani Fernando holding office then, he once said that Bayani is a tough nut to crack. Sometime during the Senate inquiry about NBN / ZTE, it overlapped to the WB assisted projects and Senator Lacson mentioned that Bayani Fernando did not signed the project and probably cost his Public Works portfolio.
