Former President Fidel V. Ramos leads a distinguished panel of speakers that ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel) and its Guam partner, the Sorensen Media Group (SMG), have organized for its first joint leadership forum on December 5 at the Hyatt Regency in Guam.
Aside from the former president, the other speakers will be Tourism Secretary Ace Durano; ABS-CBN chairman and CEO Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III; ABS-CBN COO Charo Santos Concio; ABS-CBN news and current affairs head and ANC managing director Maria Ressa; and former deputy assistant secretary for the interior for the Office of US Insular Affairs David Cohen.
The forum will tackle the theme “Leadership in Challenging Times.”
In his keynote address, former President Ramos will give his insights on the growth on Guam of the US military under its “forward defense” strategy and how it impacts on the Asia-Pacific region.
In 2010, the US forces in Okinawa, Japan, will transfer to Guam--a move seen to give rise to new opportunities for Guam and its neighbors.
A US territory, Guam has a large Filipino-American community—nearly half its population. ANC signed a partnership with SMG this year; some of ANC’s shows—News at 8, Dateline Philippines, Executive Class, Eye on Your Week with ANC, and daily news updates—are shown on Guam on SMG’s free TV channels.
At the forum, Mr. Lopez will talk about “Creative Destruction: How Organizations Change for the Future;” Ms. Concio will discuss “Transformational Leadership: The Journey Inward;” Secretary Durano will tackle “Opportunities in Tourism; Ms. Ressa will speak on “User-Generated Content: Impact on Business and Society;” and Mr. Cohen will talk about “Opportunities Arising from Guam’s Buildup.”
ANC anchor Ricky Carandang and SMG co-managing director Sharla Cohen will be the forum moderators.
