"I will immediately convene the Oversight Committee on the Organic Act on Muslim Mindanao (RA 9054) and complete a review and assessment of the implementation of the law. I will issue an Executive Order reviving/extending the function of the Oversight Committee, which was last convened before 2004 and which never completed its task, and impose a deadline for the completion of its work."

February 28, 2012: The Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of Republic Act 10153 or An Act Providing for the Synchronization of the Elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) with the National and Local Elections, and for other purposes, which deferred the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao elections to 2013 and allowed the President to appoint officers-in-charge (OICs).

The law said the appointed Members of the Regional Legislative Assembly of the ARMM shall conduct a study and review of Republic Act No. 9054 (ARMM Organic Act) and submit recommendations to the Congress of the Philippines within six (6) months from their assumption into office. (Continue Reading)
