MANILA – Minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region (NCR) will now be paid more following the integration of the P15 of the existing P30 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) as provided under Wage Order NCR-No.18.

The minimum wage rate for private sector workers in the NCR is now at P466, composed of the P451 basic pay and the other P15 of the existing COLA.

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz has issued a statement to remind private sector employers in the NCR of the increase.

"Wage Order NCR-No.18 provides for a P10 additional pay effective 1 October 2013, and the integration to the basic pay of the P15 of the existing P30 COLA provided under Wage Order NCR-No. 17, which took effect on 1 January 2014," said Baldoz.

She added that the integration also means an increase in minimum wage earners' 13th month pay, overtime pay, night shift differential pay, and other statutory benefits.

The new wage rate applies to all minimum wage workers in the private sector in the NCR regardless of their position, designation, or status of employment, and irrespective of the method by which they are paid.

Excluded in the new wage rate, however, are household service or domestic helpers; persons in the personal service of another, including family drivers; and workers of duly-registered Barangay Micro Business Enterprises with Certificates of Authority.
