MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom, Inc. assured users there are no problems between its network and others' amid allegations the Ayala-led firm is having difficulty processing text messages from other telcos.

"Our network is not experiencing any difficulty in handling SMS traffic across networks," Yoly Crisanto, head of corporate communications at Globe, said in a statement.

"As far as our technical monitoring is concerned, there were no incidences of failed connections with other telco companies, whether on calls or text messages," she continued.

Crisanto's comments come after allegations Globe users are having problems receiving text messages from non-Globe consumers.

But Crisanto dispelled such assertions and said Globe's service is even better now due to the network modernization program.

"We urge the public not to heed negative statements and advisories that are contrary to the actual situation on the ground," Crisanto said.

"Our messaging platform is performing well, especially in light of our current modernization program, whether we receive from or send to other networks," she stressed.

Moreover, Crisanto noted there are ongoing talks between Globe and Sun Cellular with regard to upgrading links between the two networks.

"There is an ongoing negotiation with Sun to upgrade their links to better serve Globe customers," Crisanto said.

The National Telecommunication Commission earlier this month revealed Globe Telecom along Smart Communications, Inc. have both passed the regulator's benchmark tests.
