ICTSI Equador unit bags 4 ISO certificates

MANILA, Philippines - The port run by a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) in Equador has become the first Latin American container port to be ISO certified.

Contecon Guayaquil S.A. (CGSA), the ICTSI unit that manages and operates the Guayaquil Multipurpose and Container Terminal (GMCT) said in a statement that CGSA received the following 4 ISO certifications:  
- ISO 9001 for Quality Management System
- ISO 14001 for Environmental Management System
- OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety
- ISO 28000 for Supply Chain Security Management Systems

The 4 certifications were acquired after a series of audits of all CGSA departments, with Bureau Veritas of Ecuador as the certifying body.

Humberto Palacios, Autoridad Portuaria de Guayaquil President; Luis Cao, CGSA Chief Executive Officer; and Adrián Agazzi, CGSA Director of Services and Technology, said that the certification enhances operations at the Port of Guayaquil.

ICTSI is a Philippines-based port management company led by politically influential businessman, Enrique Razon.

ICTSI is involved in the operations and development of 19 marine terminals and port projects in 13 countries.
