MANILA, Philippines - STI Educations Services Group is starting construction of a P275-million academic center in Quezon province.

In a statement, STI said it broke ground for the STI Academic Center along Quezon Avenue in Lucena City.

The 6,387-square-meter property will have a 4-storey building with state-of-the-art facilities, laboratories, a covered basketball court and a library.

The STI Academic Center Lucena is expected to be fully operational within the year. It will be able to accommodate 3,000 students enrolled in Information & Communications Technology, Business & Management, Tourism & Hospitality Management and Engineering.

STI president and CEO Monico Jacob said the new campus in Lucena is part of its efforts to widen its reach.

"The new Lucena campus is set to optimize its strategic location across a park with trees that we decided to preserve, to give our students breathing space as they pursue the challenge of acquiring the skill sets they need in the future," Jacob said.

STI currently has academic centers in Bonifacio Global City, Naga, Fairview, Alabang, Novaliches, Malolos and Ortigas-Cainta. It has recently completed the P500-million STI Academic Center Caloocan, which can accomodate more than 9,000 students.

STI will also open new campuses in Calamba and Cubao in June.
