PSEi soars to its 11th record high this year

MANILA, Philippines - Shares soared on Tuesday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange index breaching the 6,200-mark and hitting its 11th record high for the year.

The PSEi gained 0.68% or 42.31 points to close at 6,234.73 on Tuesday, while the broader all-shares index went up 0.69% or 27.08 points to 3,929.26.

All the sub-indices finished in the green, with property firms leading the pack as it closed 1.37% or 33.28 points higher at 2,478.53.

Industrial companies increased 0.9% or 84.30 points to close at 9,425.76, while holding firms climbed 0.87% or 47.75 points to 5,506.21.

The services sector also grew 0.44% or 8.21 points to 1,863.83, while mining and oil companies added 0.29% or 62.67 points to 21,820.22.

Financial firms, meanwhile, went up 0.24% or 3.91 points to finish at 1,644.74.

Advancers outpaced decliners 109 to 67, while 40 remain unchanged on Tuesday.

Gainers were led by Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp., as its shares increased by 15.86% to P1.68 apiece, and Imperial Resources, Inc., with shares climbing 12.07% to P6.50.

Top losers were led by Crown Equities, Inc., after its shares fell 7.35% to P0.063 apiece, and Century Peak Metals Holdings Corp., with shares sliding 6.73% to P0.97.
