Philippine tax agencies exceed Jan targets: documents

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines' main tax collection agencies have exceeded their January targets, government documents showed on Wednesday.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue, which accounts for around two-thirds of state revenue, collected P61.68 billion ($1.3 billion) in January, above its P56 billion goal for the month, according to official documents seen by reporters.
The Bureau of Customs earned P17.6 billion in January against its target of P14.09 billion for the month.
Manila is aiming to contain its budget deficit at P110.94 billion in the first quarter.
