Heinz: Not just ketchup and beans

WASHINGTON - Heinz, which is being taken over by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital in a $28 billion deal, built its name on tomato ketchup and canned baked beans.

But today, it has a powerful portfolio of popular food brands in markets around the world. Heinz Tomato Ketchup and the company's Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce are distributed globally.

In addition, they have:

US and Canada: Heinz canned soups and beans, baby foods, bottled sauces and prepared pasta meals, Ore-Ida frozen potatoes and Smart Ones low-calorie frozen meals

Asia: ABC soy sauce, Ore-Ida frozen potatoes, Master and Meiweiyuan sauces (China) and Complan children's health drinks (India)

Europe: Heinz beans (1.5 million cans sold a day in Britain); Plasmon baby foods (Italy), Honig prepared foods (Netherlands) and Sonnen Bassermann prepared foods (Germany)

Australia: Golden Circle fruits, vegetable and juices

New Zealand: Wattie's ketchup, soups, canned foods, baby foods

Brazil: Quero ketchup, canned vegetables, seasonings and sweets
