MANILA, Philippines - Another round of oil price hikes looms next week.

This will further raise the net increases in gasoline and diesel prices, which now stand at P4.75 and P2.65 per liter, respectively.

According to industry sources, from Monday to Thursday this week, the equivalent increase in imported gasoline is more than P0.40 per liter, while the increase for diesel is P0.35.

Department of Energy Director Zenaida Monsada said the government is fast-tracking the reloading of P1,200 in the "Pantawid Pasada" fuel cards of public utility vehicle drivers.

When asked if jeepney drivers can expect the load by Monday, Monsada said they are not sure yet.

Monsada asked for understanding from private motorists as the government subsidy is only for public transport. She said private motorists have the option to take public transport if they can no longer afford the high fuel costs.
