PSBank reacts to Corona's 'loss of trust'
MANILA, Philippines - Philippines Savings Bank (PSBank) on Wednesday said its clients remain confident with the bank following Chief Justice Renato Corona's claim that he withdrew his money from PSBank because he no longer trusted it.
"PSBank has successfully maintained the confidence of all its depositors including its most high- profile customers for the past 52 years," the bank said in a short media statement.
Corona has admitted that he withdrew his money from accounts in PSBank Katipunan on December 12, 2011 - the same day he was impeached.
Corona suspects that a PSBank Katipunan branch manager leaked his bank records.
He also insisted that the millions of pesos discovered in his bank accounts belong to Basa-Guidote Enterprises Inc. (BGEI), the family corporation of his wife, Cristina.
The Chief Justice also vowed to he will divulge all of his bank records and explain them next week before the impeachment court.
Corona said he spent almost half of his professional life in the private sector and made money while in private practice. - with a report from ANC
