MANILA, Philippines – Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) unveiled two new sedans, the Altima and the Sylphy, to the Philippine market on Friday under its tagline “Innovation that excites.”

The new Altima is Nissan’s latest flagship vehicle representing the midsize executive sedan segment.

The new Nissan Altima features an advance electronic driving aid through its Vehicle Dynamic Control with Active Understeer Control.

The new feature gives drivers more confident control by minimizing understeer in dynamic driving and emergency maneuvers.

The Altima comes in silver, black, white and blue and priced at P1.65 million for the 2.5L SV CVT, and P2.03 million for the 3.5L SL CVT.

The new Sylphy, meanwhile, is Nissan’s entry into the compact car segment and will be powered by 1.8L MRA8DE and 1.6L HR160E engine with a new generation Nissan Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission with sub-planetary gear to deliver powerful and smooth driving.

The Sylphy, poised to replace the Sentra, comes in white, black, gray, silver, and bronze.

The 1.6L MT is priced at P812,000 while the 1.6L Upper CVT is priced at P915,000. The 1.8L, on the other hand, is priced at P998,000.

NPI general manager Lee Junia said the introduction of the two new vehicles marks the start of more products to arrive in the Philippine market.

He believes that with the introduction of new products and a better branding and sales strategy, Nissan will be able to grab a bigger share of the automotive market in the country.

“The market landscape is fluid. It always changes, but one advantage we have is now we are offering new products into the market—products that have long been missing,” he said.

Junia added that the consolidation of Nissan Motor Philippines Inc. and Universal Motors Corporation will give the company a better focus and clearer direction in its marketing strategy.

“We’re hoping that now that Nissan has been consolidated, this will be a very good and opportune time for us to really promote the brand through these two new cars,” said Junia.

Top Nissan executives, including Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. vice chairman Toshiyuki Shiga and executive vice president Takao Katagiri, graced the launch in Paranaque City.
