Cebu Pacific to add more domestic flights this summer
MANILA, Philippines – Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific will add more domestic flights this summer to keep up with one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.
The airline said the additional flight frequencies in its inter-island routes will last from March to June this year.
"As a Philippine carrier, it has always been our goal to make travel around the Philippines easy and affordable. Through these additional inter-island flights and our extensive network, we hope to serve guests during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year," said Candice Iyog, vice president for marketing and distribution of Cebu Pacific.
Flights between Cebu and Butuan will be increased to 12 times a week from 10 times a week from March 31 to April 12 and from April 17 to June 7.
Flights between Cebu and Davao will be 36 times a week from 29 a week starting April 1 to June 15.
Flights between Cebu and Iloilo will also be increased to 14 times per week from the current 10 per week from April 1 to June 8.
Flights between Zamboanga and Cebu will be increased to 10 times per week while flights between Zamboanga and Tawi-Tawi will also increase to 9 flights per week.
Iyog said around 18 percent of seats will be added to flights to these flights during summer.
Cebu Pacific’s flight expansion comes after PAL subsidiary PAL Express suspended 14 domestic flights in March 1 and another 21 flights starting March 16 as part of its restructuring program.
PAL Express routes that were suspended last March 1 included Cebu-Bacolod-Cebu; Cebu-Iloilo-Cebu; General Santos-Iloilo-General Santos; Cebu-Ozamiz-Cebu; Cebu-Puerto Princesa-Cebu; Cebu-Tacloban-Cebu; and Cebu-Davao-Cebu.
Routes to be suspended starting March 16 are Butuan-Cebu-Butuan; Cebu-Cagayan-Cebu; Cebu-Davao-Cebu; Cagayan-Davao-Cagayan; Cebu-Iloilo-Cebu; Cebu-Caticlan-Cebu; Cebu-Zamboanga -Cebu; Davao-Zamboanga-Davao; Jolo-Zamboanga-Jolo; and Tawi-Tawi-Zamboanga-Tawi-Tawi.
