Listed firm Globe Telecom announced Monday it has expanded its reach to customers last year by delivering a stronger wireless network.

In a statement, Globe said it had 6,446 cellular sites nationwide as of end-2008, a huge leap from the 6,217 cellsites it reported in 2007.

Citing data from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Globe said it has also improved its network quality with the least blocked calls (1.99 percent) and least dropped calls (1.42 percent) as compared to other telcos in the country. NTC conducted the tests from September 17 to October 6 last year.

Globe ended 2008 with more than 24.7 million mobile subscribers, offering various call and text promotions such as Unlitxt All Day, EverybodyTxt, and Tawag236.

"Globe makes it easy and fast for customers to connect to one another to be able to constantly bond with family and friends through Globe and Touch Mobile's Sakto Calls and Globe's Tawag236," Globe said.

Last month, Globe launched a new service which allows its postpaid and prepaid subscribers to upload, share, and publish multimedia content online through their mobile phones.

Called Globe Pixlink, it allows users to post photos and videos in virtual social networks such as Facebook, Youtube, Flickr, Blogger, Picasa, and G-Blogs.
