Airphil Express is now PAL Express
MANILA, Philippines - Say goodbye to Airphil Express. The low-cost carrier will now be known as PAL Express, as it strengthens its alliance with Philippine Airlines.
Starting March 15, Airphil Express will be rebranded as PAL Express. All Airphil Express planes will now be using the familiar "sunriser" PAL livery and logo on its tail and fuselage.
PAL's budget airline was also named PAL Express, operating from 2008 to 2009. It eventually transferred all services to Airphil Express.
While it follows the low-cost carrier model in managing its costs, PAL president Ramon S. Ang said PAL Express will maintain the same service standards as PAL, a full service carrier.
"It’s not just a name change, but an alignment of two standards into one. With this rebranding, PAL and PAL Express will be full service carriers in terms of service, but LCC in terms of managing costs,” Ang said in a statement.
Unlike the "no-frills" approach of budget airlines, PAL Express will now offer complimentary snacks, drinks and reading materials on board and other amenities to its passengers. Passengers can also earn miles through their Mabuhay Miles membership.
After its transformation, PAL Express will have the same
service standards as PAL. However, the two airlines will remain distinct and independent airline companies.
All PAL flights will be manned by PAL pilots and cabin crew, while PAL Express flights will be operated by Airphil Express pilots and flight attendants.
