MANILA, Philippines - Several Filipinos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Saturday afternoon from Japan.

Most of them had their children in tow, but without their Japanese husbands.

They hope that it will be a temporary arrangement for their families until things get better in Japan.

"Kung ako lang, mananatili ako, pero ang mga anak ko natatakot ako eh," said Arlene Kai.

Roberta Rubiyata, on the other hand, is in a hurry to fly to Osaka.

She fears for her young child as Osaka is still experiencing aftershocks.

She plans to convince her husband to let her bring their child home in Manila for the meantime.

"Iyun ang problema, hindi ko alam kung paano ko siya kukumbinsihin," she said.

A number of Filipinos, meanwhile, couldn't help but feel being taken advantage of.

They were surprised that each plane ticket from Japan they booked last Friday cost around P160,000 compared to just P30,000 in the past.

"Marami sa kanila ang gustong umuwi pero hindi nila kaya ang pamasahe," said Jemy Ventura. “Napakamahal ng ticket!"

No ticket price hike, says PAL

Philippine Airlines, (PAL), however, said it did not raise its airfare.

The flag carrier clarified that ticket prices vary from the date of booking, and would change depending on which agency bought the tickets.

PAL urged people to buy tickets online instead of through travel agencies.

A number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Japan are now asking if the rates can be either brought down or for government to shoulder part of the fare. – ABS-CBN News Channel

If u check online ex.HIS, airplane tickets are normal. Expensive which are normal if you want to fly on the same day u purchased.

Inaccurate Report...

This report seems inaccurate....

Just checked PAL's website and their most expensive Fiesta Class (Economy) ticket from Tokyo-Narita to Manila for March 22 is Y89,000.00 or around Php 45,000.00. While Mabuhay (Business) Class is Y109,000.00 or around Php55,000.00 contrary to the claims made.

If you check the website of All Nippon Airways though, one-way Narita to Manila fare is around Y160,000.00.

I guess your reporters need to verify your data and facts first. This is quite damaging to the reputation of company.
