PSE okays 17 candidates for May elections
Seventeen candidates have been green-lighted by the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) for a May 9 election that will determine the bourse’s 15-member board of directors.
Renominated for a fifth term was PSE President and chief executive Francis Ed. Lim, who first assumed the post in 2004.
Joining him were current board members William L. Ang, Ismael G. Cruz, Eusebio H. Tanco, Alejandro T. Yu, Eddie T. Gobing, Ma. Vivian Yuchengco, David O. Chua, Omelita J. Tiangco, Amor C. Iliscupidez, and Annabelle L. Chua.
Not included in the list, meanwhile, were current independent directors Jose C. Vitug, Cornelio T. Peralta, and Jose Luis S. Javier. Mr. Vitug, a former Supreme Court justice, has occupied the position of chairman of the exchange since 2005.
Nominated in their stead were John Aloysius Bernas, Vicente L. Panlilo, and Hans B. Sicat.
Rounding up the 17 nominees were Eduardo L. David, Frederick L. De Vera, and Wilfred D. Son Keng Po.
