BDO belies reports of 'compromised' ATMs
MANILA, Philippines - Banco de Oro Unibank Inc. (BDO), the country's largest lender by assets, on Thursday denied reports circulating in social media that 11,000 ATM cards of its customers were compromised.
Several Twitter users on Thursday reported that 11,000 BDO ATM cards were compromised Wednesday evening, and that the affected cards were disabled for security purposes.
Blogger Jayvee Fernandez tweeted that the bank told him there was "nothing stolen" but the cards have been deactivated and will be replaced.

He said he attempted to withdraw money using his BDO ATM card, but he was not able to do so.

Local tech website Technograph, in a post, quoted a Facebook post by Fernandez: "Several accounts were compromised but auto security features disabled the cards before anything. Try withdrawing and see if you are one of those. If so your branch will replace it same day free of charge."
Fernandez later tweeted that bank representatives told him there was a "bank fraud attempt" on Mastercard and Visa ATM cards, and the attempt was "thwarted."

He added the story was "consistent" based on two BDO branches where he inquired. He did not name the bank branches, however.
The bank's Corporate Affairs office, meanwhile, told ABS-CBN News that BDO is "not aware" of any such incident, and said it might be a ploy on its customers.
"The bank is not aware of any incident. It may just be another scheme to victimize the public at the expense of companies doing business the right way. We hope this can be addressed the soonest time possible. Thank you," the bank said.
Meanwhile, Fernandez tweeted that he was shown a bank memo on the incident, but he was not allowed to copy it for public use.

BDO ATM SUCKS
This just happened to me earlier today at around 08:50pm. I was trying to withdraw money from a BDO ATM at Robinson's Galleria. My ATM got stuck for a few f***ing minutes and no money came out. Since I was in a hurry I did not bother checking if the amount was debited from my account or not. I will check it later. BDO...you better get your act together. Your reputation is going down the drain fast because of this. BDO you FRUSTRATE me a lot. Your service is so disappointing. Very very disappointing. By the way...this is not the first time it happened.
