Cebu Pacific hikes flights to Boracay, Roxas
Budget carrier Cebu Pacific announced Monday that it will add more flights to its Manila-Roxas and Manila-Kalibo routes starting May 9.
Kalibo is the jump-off point to popular tourist destination, Boracay island.
In a statement, the airline said the additional frequencies will increase its passenger capacity by 42.8 percent for the Manila-Roxas route with its 10-times weekly service from just once daily.
The Gokongwei-led airline said it will also fly three times a week from Cebu to Roxas starting May 2.
Cebu Pacific said it is charging minimum "Go Lite" one-way fares of P1,088 for the Manila-Kalibo route, P1,188 for the Manila-Roxas route, and P988 for the Cebu-Roxas route.
These "Go Lite" fares, which are for passengers traveling with no check-in baggage, exclude government taxes and value-added tax. Those with check-in bags have to add P200 to the fare.
Cebu Pacific said it would continue to expand its domestic operations for better connectivity and more convenient schedules for travelers. It added that it would keep on offering the lowest all-inclusive fares to support the growth of tourism and trade in the country.
Cebu Pacific reported a 28-percent growth in passenger traffic for the first three months of the year, bucking the gloomy global trend in the aviation industry, which reported a 10-percent drop in February alone.
The company said it ferried 1.97 million passengers from January to March, higher than 1.54 million in the same period last year.
