Leading business process outsourcing (BPO) firm Convergys Corp. took home two awards from the recent Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Awards.

The company was recognized as Outstanding Employer and Outstanding Exporter. This was the third time the company was cited in both categories.

"We are honored to have been recognized by PEZA, once again, as Outstanding Employer and Exporter," Convergys Vice President and Country Manager Marife Zamora said in a statement.

PEZA recognized Convergys as an Outstanding Employer for generating the most jobs, for excellent employee relations, and for maintaing harmony between labor and management.

The Outstanding Exporter Award, on the other hand, was given to the company for its contribution to exports based on total export value, growth, and net trade balance, and good corporate citizenship.

Early this year, Convergys was also recognized as the BPO Employer of the Year at the 2009 International ICT awards.

In March, the company opened three contact center facilities in Cebu, Quezon City, and Laguna, bringing its total headcount to 16,000.
