Maynilad Water Services Inc. announced Friday it has completed P13 billion worth of water supply improvement projects, benefiting some 92,000 additional households in its concession area.
In a statement, Maynilad said its present owners have invested heavily to rehabilitate oil pipelines and upgrade water facilities to provide better water supply and pressure to customers in the west zone of Metro Manila.
Last year, Maynilad installed a 4.4-kilometer pipeline from Singalong Street in Manila to the Roxas Boulevard service road going to Pasay City, and another 1,000-meter pipeline along Tirona Highway in Kawit, Cavite. It also put in place a 3,472-meter line along Magdiwang Street in Quezon City all the way to the Noveleta Reservoir, and along Tirona Highway.
In 2007, the water distributor completed a number of major pipeline projects in Binondo and Sampaloc, Manila, in Pasay, and Parañaque City.
Maynilad said its modernization and expansion plans will continue this year, with the laying of some 422 kilometers of new pipes in various areas, as well as the construction and rehabilitation of new pumping stations and reservoirs throughout the west zone.
The company, which is owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and DMCI Holdings Inc., is currently seeking a 15-year extension of its concession contract, which will end in 2022.
Maynilad serves 6.2 million customers in 11 cities in Metro Manila and five towns and cities in nearby Cavite province.
