MANILA, Philippines - Low cost carrier Cebu Pacific on Tuesday said it is opening a new route in Asia and will start flying to Brunei on August 21.

The airline, owned by listed conglomerate JG Summit Holdings, is launching the new route with a seat sale promo. From June 2-4, the airline is offering a cheap air fare of P899,  and which can be used from August 21 to November 30

The air fare of P899 is 68% lower compared to the lowest year-round 'Go Lite' fare of P2,899 which will be offered after the seat sale period.

Cebu Pacific said it will fly to Brunei twice a week using an Airbus aircraft.

"Naming our 15th international destination is one more step towards our expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. We are expecting delivery of 22 more brand-new Airbus A320 until 2014, which will be used to bring our low fares to more markets," said the airline's vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog.

Cebu Pacific's entry to Brunei was in large part due to the Philippine air panel's amended air services agreement (SAS) with Brunei.

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) said that a total of seven weekly flights to Manila were awarded, with two flights to Cebu, and one to Clark .

The Philippine air services negotiating panel is composed of officials from the CAB, Departments of Transportation and Communications, of Foreign Affairs, and of Tourism, Clark International Airport Corp., and representatives from local airline companies.

On the domestic front, Cebu Pacific said that flights from Manila to Busuanga, Dumaguete, Laoag and Naga are up for grabs for the 'Go Lite' seat sale fare of P499. Those going from Manila and Cebu to Hong Kong, and Manila to Macau and vice versa can also avail of P1,499 seats. These are for travel from July 1 to August 31, 2010.
