MANILA, PHILIPPINES - US-based diversified global manufacturing and technology company Emerson is investing $20 million to expand its business process outsourcing (BPO) operations in the Philippines.

Emerson Process Management recently opened its new engineering and service center at a 10,000-square-meter building in Pasig City.

"This new facility represents an investment in our growth strategy in Asia and reconfirms our commitment to the Philippines which has a large pool of skilled engineers,” said Ed Monser, president and chief operating officer of Emerson.

Emerson is investing $20 million in the Philippines to support sales of its automation technologies and engineering services in Asia Pacific and around the world.

Emerson employs around 700 people at its Manila center. It expects to employ close to 1,000 by 2017.

"The opening of the Philippines facility adds to our regional engineering and project execution hubs which already includes facilities in India, Costa Rica, Romania, and the United States to serve our automation customers around the world," Monser said.

Terry Krouth, vice president and general manager of Emerson Process Management’s Manila team, said the company's employee headcount has doubled in the last four years.

"The work we do in Manila is key to helping our customers automate their production, processing and distribution facilities and operate and manage for safety, productivity and profitability. Our multi-lingual professional staff is available around the clock, solving customer problems whenever and wherever they arise," he said.

The company's process solutions and services team in Manila provides engineering, product development and testing, project execution, operations support, customer support, and sales and marketing for these technologies in Asia Pacific and globally.
