MANILA, Philippines - Despite being disqualified from the bidding for the Cavite-Laguna Expressway project, San Miguel Corp. said it remains interested in government's infrastructure projects.

San Miguel president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang said the company will still participate in all infrastructure projects to be bid out under the public private partnership (PPP) program.

"We will participate in all public bidding of PPP projects of the national government," he said.

San Miguel was disqualified by the Department of Public Works and Highways special committee despite having placed the highest bid for the toll road project - P20.1 billion. This was compared to the second-highest bid of P11.7 billion from the tandem of Ayala Corp. and Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc.

However, the conglomerate filed an appeal with Malacanang.

On June 30, DPWH was directed by the Office of the President to defer the implementation of the resolution while the appeal is still pending.

"Hangga't wala pang decision (Malacanang), if you are under appeal, you are not supposed to make a comment," he said.

San Miguel has won one PPP project - the NAIA Expressway.
