MANILA - Philippine shares prices should be boosted next week by investors building up positions ahead of the earnings reporting season for the three months to June, analysts said Friday.

"We're two weeks away from the earnings season, and early indications suggest second quarter results were positive," Ricardo Puig of ATR-Kim Eng Securities told Dow Jones Newswires.

He said risk appetite should also be boosted by some improvement in US jobs data and domestic inflation prospects.

May export data released Friday suggest the eight-month slide in Philippine exports, in which the US is the main market, may be easing, according to the government.

The composite index rose 55.88 points or 2.30 percent from the previous week to close at 2,487.22 points Friday.

Average daily turnover rose to 1.05 billion shares worth P2.40 billion ($49.81 million) this week from 911.4 million shares worth P1.97 billion the previous week.
