ANC, Yahoo PH ink news content partnership
MANILA, Philippines - Yahoo! Philippines and ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) on Thursday announced a content partnership, Yahoo's first of a kind collaboration outside of the United States.
ANC will have its own section on Yahoo Philippines News, which will have online articles, photos and video clips.
The section will go live on July 22, with intensive coverage of President Benigno Aquino's State of the Nation Address.
With this partnership, Yahoo! Philippines, which has a daily average user base of 2.1 million, expects a boost in the number of users.
Kate Delos Reyes, country manager and country editor Yahoo Philippines, said with the ANC partnership, Yahoo expects to increase its user base "multiple times" in the next few months.
"It's actually the first for Yahoo outside of the United States... We have similar partnerships from other media organizations and this is the first time we are replicating a similar partnership outside of our headquarters," she said. Yahoo! has a content partnership with ABC News in the US.
ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs (INCA) chief Ging Reyes said ANC is blazing the trail once again with its partnership with Yahoo.
"The team will ensure that the very best of ANC's on-air content will reach Yahoo! Philippines' large base of 2 million daily users - from the freshest news to exclusive news to special features. ANC's core strength has always been it's ability and commitment to deliver round-the-clock news to viewers in and outside of the Philippines," she said.
Delos Reyes said ANC and Yahoo share the same vision of bringing fast and accurate news content."This partnership is a true online and on-air collaboration that aims to reinvent how consumers access news across screens," she said.
However, the ANC Yahoo! site will not directly compete with ABS-CBNnews.com, the news website of ABS-CBN.
"The audience of ABS-CBNnews.com is we are providing news about the Filipinos for Filipinos anywhere they are. With ANC, we're trying to angle the articles so that they serve a global audience. It's news about the Filipino to anybody who is interested... Also we hired a different editorial team, who will be angling the news differently for this market. There will be different articles on ANC Yahoo and different articles on ABS-CBNnews.com," Anna Rodriguez, head of the News Digital Media department, said.
ABS-CBNnews.com is the news website of ABS-CBN Corp.
