Clark International Airport's new passenger terminal building

MANILA, Philippines - Clark International Airport's new expanded passenger terminal building opened last May.

Transportation Secretary Joseph Abaya said the new terminal is expected to boost Clark's annual capacity to around 4 million from the previous 2.5 million.

The DOTC and Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) are investing in Clark airport's development to prepare it as an international hub, along with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the proposed airport at Sangley Point, Cavite.

"We see Clark International Airport (CRK) as a premier gateway alongside NAIA and Sangley, especially in view of its rapid growth over the past few years, as well as government’s development plans for the entire economic zone and the rest of the region. This is the direction we are taking for presentation to the President, for his consideration," he said.

Clark's expanded operations began last May, upon the completion of its passenger terminal expansion project.

The P417-million project increased the building's size to 19,799 square meters from 11,439 square meters.

The new building also has 34 check-in counters. Twelve departure counters and five arrival counters were added.

The modern terminal now has 8 entry points and 3 customs stations, and can accommodate more international flights.
