Aquino appoints first woman to head Napocor
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino recently appointed Liberal Party director-general Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita as president of National Power Corp., the first woman to head the company.
Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla endorsed Sta. Rita ro replace Napocor president Froilan Tampinco.
Sta. Rita is a former director of Philippine National Oil Company and chairperson of its subsidiary PNOC Development and Management Corporation.
She studied at the University of the Philippines School of Economics, both for her undergraduate and graduate degree courses. She completed a Certificate Program for Senior Executives at the John F. Kennedy School of Government in Harvard University. She also completed a masters degree in Public Administration at La Consolacion University of the Philippines.
Sta. Rita had served as the provincial administrator of Bulacan for 17 years and worked as consultant at United States Agency for International Development for projects in the Philippines.
