Toshiba donates P5M to PH flood relief efforts
MANILA, Philippines - Japanese electronics company Toshiba Group on Thursday said it will donate an equivalent to 10 million yen (roughly $127,400 or P5.3 million) to the relief efforts for victims of the devastating floods in the Philippines.
The Japanese giant has a local unit Toshiba Information Equipment Philippines, Inc. (TIP) located in Laguna province, which was one of the areas affected by massive floods.
TIP has delivered about 2,000 bags of relief supplies, containing rice, canned food, water, etc., to evacuees in Laguna.
"Toshiba Group sincerely hopes for the earliest possible recovery from this disaster," the company said, in a statement.
Around 2 million people in Metro Manila and nearby provinces were affected by the floods caused by heavy rains in the last few days.
