Malls open despite heavy rains
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) - Despite heavy rains and flooding in the metropolis, some of the biggest shopping malls are open today.
In an advisory, SM Supermalls said all malls, except for Bacoor and Manila, are open today. All supermarkets in SM malls are open, if the mall is operating.
"Safety of our employees and tenants are key. We reiterate that employees are not obliged to come in but those who can are doing a public service to the community," SM Supermalls said.
Savemore stores are also open in National Capital Region and surrounding provinces, except for the branch in Kawit, Cavite.
SM Supermalls also said it will start accepting donations for typhoon victims at its malls. "SM Supermalls, together with SM Foundation, will start accepting donations for victims of Typhoon Maring in all its 47 malls nationwide. Donation bins will be made available in the malls. All donations will be coursed though Caritas Manila," it said.
Megaworld said its shopping malls, Eastwood, Newport, Lucky Chinatown and Burgos Circle, are open. However, Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill is closed.
