Globe's revenues improve in July, August
MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom Inc. said Thursday it saw improvement in its July and August revenues, owing to diverse promos.
"Better in terms of revenue pick up. It's okay. We are doing okay," said Globe president Ernest Cu.
Cu said their goal is to recover market share after it was hit badly by bucket pricing and unlimited call and text messaging services offered by all cellular firms.
"We are going to compete for market share," added the company official.
Another immediate goal is to stabilize revenues, which had gone down by 3% to P30.7 billion in the first 6 months of the year.
Despite an increase in traffic and over-all usage, Globe's mobile revenues were lower with sustained price pressures resulting from intense competition and subscribers' increasing preference for lower-yield bucket and unlimited promotions.
Globe's approach to counter declining mobile revenues is to focus on tempering its promo launches and to differentiate itself from competition by providing superior end-to-end customer service, said Cu.
"We will launch lesser promos this year and implement one promo longer. We will implement a phasing on our promos unlike what we have done in the past. We also have to find a way to differentiate ourselves from competition. There will be more from us very soon."
Meanwhile, Globe said it is offering special call and text rates for holders of Kalinga sa Bayan (KSB) SIMs at a reduced call rate of P0.05 per second or P3 per minute to any Globe and TM subscriber from the regular call rate of P6.50 per minute.
SMS rate is at P0.50 per text message to any Globe and TM subscriber as compared to the regular SMS rate of P1 per text message.
Globe has partnered with Gawad Kalinga (GK) and developed the GK1World website in support of the GK Kalinga sa Bayan campaign which seeks to end poverty through public-private collaboration.
GK Kalinga sa Bayan aims to mobilize every concerned citizen in the Philippines and abroad to work together with their respective local government unit and other sectors to lift their hometowns out of poverty.
"We made 50,000 KSB SIMS that comes with special rates," said Cu.
