DOE questions Solane, Total LPG price hikes
MANILA, Philippines - Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla questioned why Solane and Total increased LPG prices by more than P3 per kilo.
Solane increased LPG prices by P4/kilo plus VAT while Total raised prices by P3/kilo plus VAT. The companies did not even send any advisory about the price hike to the media.
According to Petilla, based on their computation, the price increase should only be less than P3/kilo.
Petilla virtually endorsed Petron Gasul since according to him, the price increase is well within the price range computation of the DOE. Petron raised LPG prices by P2.85/kilo (VAT included).
When asked what sanctions will this mean for both companies, Petilla admitted there's no sanction, only a reminder and a call for consumers to patronize dealers who have lower price hike.
Petilla also cautioned motorists of the impending oil price hike for diesel and gasoline anytime today.
Based on estimates, gasoline might increase by P1.40-P1.60/liter and diesel by P0.90-P1.10/liter.
