Ombudsman sets probe on Pag-IBIG loans to Globe Asiatique
MANILA, Philippines - The Ombudsman has created a task force that would probe alleged anomalies in the home loans granted by state-run Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund to property developer Globe Asiatique Realty Holdings Corp.
In a press conference on Monday, Assistant Ombudsman Jose de Jesus said that chief Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez has issued Office Order 345 creating the task force.
He said the task force will conduct an investigation on the alleged fradulent use of Pag-IBIG loans for Globe Asiatique's housing projects in Pampanga.
"The order is to file the necessary criminal and administrative charges if the evidence so warrant," said de Jesus.
The task force would be composed of six members, and will be supervised by the ACting Assistant Ombudsman in the field investigating office.
The task force members will be headed by Melinda Mananghaya of the graft investigation and prosecution office.
The other team members include associate graft investigators Emmanuel Mannix Roseos, Jocelyn Matibag, Jun Abigail Mariano, Romano Francisco and legal assistant Jose Crisanto Pinol.
The group will be supervised by Acting Assistant Ombudsman Joselito P. Pangon.
Last week, the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) has asked Globe Asiatique to explain allegations of questionable housing loans.
In a statement, the PSE said it had sought clarification from Globe Asiatique Realty Holdings Corp. and its underwriter BDO Capital and Investment Corp as part of its due diligence.
The PSE last week approved Globe Asiatique’s proposed maiden share sale.
The property firm announced the deferral of its initial public offering worth P3.3 billion “mainly due to weak global market conditions.”
Bidding sa Office of the Ombudsman
