Aquino suspends bonuses, perks of GOCCs and GFIs

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang on Wednesday said it is suspending for 3 months the bonuses and other perks of top officials of government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and government financial institutions (GFIs).

Executive Order 7, which will be in effect until December 31, was signed by President Benigno Aquino III.

Aquino also ordered a moratorium on increases in salaries, allowances, and other benefits of top officials of these agencies, except salary adjustments provided under EO 811 and EO 900.

EO 7 also created the Task Force on Corporate Compensation (TFCC) which will make an inventory of salaries, allowances and other benefits given to all members of the board of directors, and rank and file employees of GOCCs and GFIs.

The TFCC will be composed of the Office of the President as chairman, the Department of Budget and Management, Department of Finance and the Civil Service Commission.

In his first State of the Nation Address, Aquino scored GOCCs for rewarding themselves with fat paychecks and bonuses, even while some of these agencies are losing heavily.

Why suspend only for three months? Why not totally eradicate the bonuses? There are people who are willing to do the their job. Replace them.

Temporarily? I guess AbNoy will wait this out first and see if these people will make a loud noise against him. If they do, he'll put up another executive order for their salary increases as compensations for the harassments. Galing talaga ni PEENoy!

THIS IS WHAT OUR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ARE GOOD AT, THE ART OF STEALING GOVERNMENT FUNDS LEGALLY BY CALLING IT BONUSES. AND IT WENT FOR AWHILE BEFORE ANYBODY CAUGHT IT. NOW THE BEST THING FOR NOYNOY COULD DO IS SUSPEND THE BONUSES FOR THREE MONTHS. NOYNOY YOUR MANDATE IS TO GET RID OF CORRUPTION IN GOVERNMENT. THIS IS THE TIME TO DO THAT. PUT AN END TO THESE MALPRACTICES BY CUTTING IT OFF PERMANENTLY. WHEN THE TOUGH GETS GOING BE TOUGH ON A TIMELY MANNER.

the unveiling of all extravagant bonuses and perks of GOCC's are shocking and very scandalous! ... kaya naman pala namankaramin ggusto magkaroon ng posisyon sa government, all the while you thought public service ang gusto nila ... yun pala ang mga fat bonuses and perks na galing sa pera ng bayan ... immoral and evil! .. i just wonder sa karma na nag aabang sa mga buwaya nayan, ang masama nito dawit ang pamilya nila sa karma na yan since nagtamasa din sila sa perang galing sa sala!
