Is P10 wage hike enough? Netizens share their thoughts
MANILA-- Netizens shared their thoughts on the P10 minimum wage increase for workers in NCR.
Last week, the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board of the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) approved a P10 increase in the minimum wage for workers in NCR. This would mean an increase in basic wage from P451 to P466.
Alan Tanjusay, spokesperson of Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), said the P10 wage hike is a great injustice to workers in Metro Manila.
But the Employers’ Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) said that further increasing the minimum wage will cause closure and bankruptcy of companies.
Last Friday, TV Patrol asked their viewers this question: “P10 ang wage hike sa NCR. Laging sinasabi na pag mas mahal, baka may malugi na raw na kumpanya at magsara. OK na ba ang P10 umento?”
On Twitter, TV Patrol viewers empathized with NCR workers.
Even though Therese Palacpac (@nazini19_80) felt the same way, she thinks it is better than nothing.
Wala bang pwedeng magrebisa niyan?!”
