MANILA, Philippines – In a bid to repair its relationship with subscribers, Globe Telecom Inc. has launched a network upgrade progress tracker.

Available on http://network.globe.com.ph, subscribers can input their addresses into the tracker to see what upgrades the Ayala-controlled company is implementing in their area, as well as any future work that may be done.

The launch of the tracker comes in the wake of a flurry of complaints from subscribers about the telco’s network.

The company has also been bombarded by messages from disgruntled customers on social media, who claimed they did not receive text messages sent to them, that signal quality is low.

Globe has said it is investing US$700 million to modernize its network. Globe president Ernest Cu emphasized that its improvements were different from the “usual” upgrades done by telecommunications companies to their networks.

“Our transformation is very different because it is indeed building a brand new network,” he said earlier this week.

In its website, Globe said the upgrades are necessary as they are "preparing for a dramatic spike in network traffic."

"The network modernization program is Globe Telecom’s commitment to future-proof the network so it can answer the future needs of our customers," Globe said.

The network upgrades are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
