DOTC awards MRT-3 ticket contract
MANILA, Philippines - Commuters who use the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) system may soon get new magnetic cards.
The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has awarded the contract for magnetic cards supply for the MRT-3 to Filipino-owned company Banner Plasticard Inc.
Banner Plasticard will supply 4.252 million magnetic tickets for a total of P25 million.
The DOTC Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) issued a resolution awarding the contract to Banner Plasticard last August 8.
"Notice is hereby given that the contract for the supply and delivery of magnetic tickets will be awarded to Banner Plasticard in the total amount of P25 million subject to submission within 10 days from receipt hereof a performance security valid until the issuance of the Certificate of Acceptance," the DOTC said.
The DOTC last year also gave Banner Plasticard the contract for the supply and delivery of 1.502 million pieces of magnetic tickets for MRT-3 worth P8.697 million.
Last month, the DOTC moved the deadline for the submission of bids for the P1.72 billion automated and contactless single ticketing system for the MRT and Light Rail Transit (LRT) last August 30 by 30 days.
This was the third PPP project to face delays, after the Mactan Cebu International Airport project and the LRT 1 Cavite extension project.
