NEDA board OKs 4 projects
MANILA, Philippines - The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) board, chaired by President Benigno Aquino, on Tuesday approved four projects for education, health and land administration sectors.
Aquino convened the 8th NEDA board meeting at the Palace on Tuesday.
The NEDA board approved the P5.691 billion modernization of the Philippine Orthopedic Center, which will be implemented through 2015; and the P3.927 billion Basic Education Assistance for Muslim Mindanao.
However, two projects were approved but with the condition the breakdown of the amounts would be verified. The P8.9 billion Development Objective Agreement between the Philippines and US on Family Health is a United States Agency for International Development-funded project. The project involves programs for family planning, and maternal and child health; and tuberculosis control and multi-drug resistant/extensively-drug resistant TB treatment.
Another project that was given conditional approval is P2.7 billion additional financing for the World Bank-assisted Second Land Administration and Management Project.
The NEDA board also approved the ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature 2012 and the 9th Regular Foreign Investment Negative List, which will be valid for the next two years. - Report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
