3 more firms keen on Cavite-Laguna expressway

MANILA, Philippines - Three more companies are keen on bidding for the P35.4-billion Cavite-Laguna expressway, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.

These three firms were identified by the DPWH as CM Pancho Construction Inc., Bouygues Travaux Publics aand the tandem of Pacific Concrete Inc. and China Harbor Engineering.
DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said the public private partnership project has attracted 18 companies, which include several foreign entities.
"DPWH anticipates bid proposals will be more competitive which will result into better bid offers to Philippine government," he said.

The DPWH has extended the deadline of the submission of pre-qualification documents to October 23 instead of September 23 to give the bidders more time to prepare.

The DPWH said companies from Singapore, Korea, France, India, and China had bought bid documents.
"The entry of foreign investors into the P35 billion road project will also result to competitive strategies and alliances formed into consortiums that will require additional time to complete,” Singson said.

Several companies have earlier announced participation in the project, such as Metro Pacific Tollways Development Corp., San Miquel Corp., Ayala's AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp. and Makati Development Corp., Aboitizland Inc., Megawide Engineering Excellence, the joint venture of Tokwing Construction Corp. and STX Enterprises ; the EFC Enterprises; M/s IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd and the L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Ltd.
Foreign groups that expressed interest in the project include Korea Expressway Corp., Alloy MTD Philippines Inc., Macquarie Infrastructure Holdings (Philippines) Pte Limited, Leighton Contractors (Philippines) Inc., and EGIS Projects Developer of Infrastructure & Service.
