Which sector has highest average basic pay?
MANILA - Workers in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector had the highest average basic pay among industries, according to the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES).
In its 2012 Occupational Wages Survey (OWS), the BLES said time-rate workers on full-time basis in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector had the highest average monthly basic pay at P19,782. This is more than 40% higher than the national median basic pay (P11,618).
Ranking second were workers in the information and communications (average P18,440), and third were workers in financial and insurance activities (P17,885).
However, workers in agriculture, forestry and fishing received the lowest average pay at P7,675.
Meanwhile, the report showed that workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) received the highest basic pay at P13,450. NCR was the only region where the rate is higher than the national average.
The OWS is an establishment survey of the BLES intended to generate statistics for wage and salary administration and minimum wage determination in collective bargaining negotiations. The 2012 OWS covered both agricultural and non-agricultural establishments.
