MANILA - A number of Philippine banks were affected by tropical storm "Ondoy" (international code name Ketsana) as consumers will not be able to transact in some branches.

Floods caused by the storm has led PSBank, Security Bank, Banco de Oro Unibank Inc., and BPI to temporarily close their automated teller machines (ATM) and bank branches in certain areas of Metro Manila and Rizal province.

In a statement, Security Bank said the following branches and ATM locations are temporarily unavailable until further notice: Evangelista, Quiapo, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pandacan, San Juan, San Miguel Avenue, Soler, Sumulong, University of Santo Tomas, and Valle Verde.

Security Bank said its clients can go to their branches in Malate, Wack-Wack, P. Santolan, Ermita, Greenhills, Magdalena / R. Square, Taytay, Mendiola, and Pateros.

For its part, PSBank Senior Vice President Jose Vicente Alde said its customers may go to any of their branches to do their transactions without extra charges to make up for the inconvenience.

"We'd like to make it as simple as possible for them to make their banking transactions. This is our small way of helping them lessen their financial worries at this difficult time," he said in a statement.

To date, BPI said about 70% of their 626 ATM terminals around Metro Manila are already available to service customers. For a complete list of available branches, the bank advised its customers to call 89-100.

"We are working round-the-clock to restore normalcy in branch and ATM operations, especially those most affected by typhoon Ondoy," BPI said.

BDO, meanwhile, advised its clients to transact their concerns with assisting branches or through their customer contact center at 631-8000 to inquire about the availability of their branches.
