Convergys opens new Bacolod contact center

US-owned Convergys, one of the largest contact centers in the Philippines, launched on Wednesday its new facility in Bacolod where it said will employ 1,000 agents by yearend.

Convergys currently employs more than 14,000 Filipinos in its six center in Metro Manila and two in Cebu. The Bacolod site is its ninth.

The newest and ninth facility is in a 6,000-sqm center located in One Sanparq, San Antonio Square along Lacson Street in Bacolod, It currently employs 700 local residents. 

"With the nature of our business, we have known through all five years of our existence here that our strength is a reflection of the very high quality work force. They are our greatest asset and we are so proud of all of our employees and their accomplishments," said Andrea Ayers, Convergys President of Customer Management.
 
"We have an employee base comprised of the best minds and talents and have created a competitive advantage by harnessing the individual strengths of peoples and cultures around the world," said Marife Zamora, Convergys Vice President and Country Manager, Philippines. 

"With our new facility here in Bacolod City, we continue to tap the tremendous pool of people resources available in the Philippines," she added.
